During the most recent Sterling City Council meeting, the council approved a request from the Sterling Fire Department. The Fire Department said they need to replace their old Articulated Ariel Fire Truck. This truck is spending more time in the shop being repaired then being available for fires.
Deputy Fire Chief Dave Northcutt thanked the council and said this would serve the community well, in two years.
The truck, a King Cobra would be built for the department and it would be delivered in about two years. The cost of the truck is about $1.9 million.
The council was told the city has the funds in reserve for the purchase. The fire department has said they need to replace all of their aging vehicles. The Ariel truck was the top priority.
